Overview
The Indiana University School of Informatics, the first of its kind in the country, was created as a place where innovative multidisciplinary programs could thrive. The Department of Informatics offers a broad spectrum of graduate studies which overlap and cross various research specializations in many different ways. We offer several domain-specific M.S. degree programs, as well as a highly interdisciplinary and research-based Ph.D. in Informatics.
Master's Degrees
Within the Department we have domain-specific M.S. degree programs in the following areas: Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, Human Computer Interaction Design, Music Informatics, and Security Informatics. The Department also offers a Graduate Certificate in Chemical Informatics. More »»
Ph.D. Degree
Our Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree program is offered on the Bloomington (IUB) and Indianapolis (IUPUI) campuses. Each student can choose a single track, or create a combined track, from a list of research specializations. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the program, students are expected to take courses in at least three of the available research areas. The department currently also offers a Ph.D. Minor in Informatics and Bioinformatics. More »»
